Okay, we won't lie to you...most people buy tickets to Magic Mike Live for the guys in the show. Who doesn’t love a hot guy who can dance? There are lots of shows out there boasting sexy men who take their shirts off, none with Choreography as incredible as ours… but the secret sauce to our success in the world of “female entertainment” is our FEMALE MC, her relationship to the audience, and her understanding of what it’s like to be a woman in today’s day and age. When Channing and the team set out to create MML, they knew that the only way we could make a show that’s truly for women would be to have a woman at the center of it all.
At the beginning of the show, the MC is just another audience member, but we see her plucked from her seat and immersed feet-first into the sexy and magical world of MML. With champagne in one hand and a bedazzled microphone in the other, she leads our audience through the journey of the evening, embarking on her own journey as she and Mike together uncover what it is that women truly want. We need a funny, interesting, entertaining woman who can genuinely connect with our house full of ladies who are turning up with their friends for the best night EVER. We get bachelorette parties, girls’ nights out, birthday parties, divorce parties, sexy date nights, mom/daughter bonding nights, gals and their gay besties – our MC welcomes everyone at MML. The drinks are flowing and the music is loud! The lights are mesmerizing and the energy is palpable. The jokes are hilarious and there is a surprise around every corner. And the men…. Well, the men are Magic!

This is a role of a lifetime for a comedienne who loves female empowerment, a fun girl’s night out, swapping sex stories, and reminding her friends and other women around her that every woman has a right to feel beautiful. Audiences come for the guys, yes, but they leave having been sneak-attacked by our feminist message of “you can have everything you want, all you need to do is ask” – and the MC is the champion of that message. The best advice we can give to ladies auditioning for the role of MC is: remember, the show isn’t about you. And it’s not about the guys either. It’s about the audience, empowering them, and giving them the best night out of their lives.

Storyline: MAGIC MIKE LIVE is a first-class entertainment experience based on the hit film franchise, most recently MAGIC MIKE'S LAST DANCE. Conceived & directed by Channing Tatum and co-directed by choreographer of the films Alison Faulk, the show is a scorching, immersive, dance and acrobatic spectacular featuring sexy and daring themed one-of-a-kind acts from a diverse cast of world-class performers. Led by a female Emcee who empowers and inspires the audience to redefine what "male entertainment" can be, MAGIC MIKE LIVE is made for a woman’s gaze, but directed at a woman’s heart. It’s a sizzling 360-degree dance and acrobatic spectacular guaranteed to leave the audience breathless.
Role Description:
[FEMALE MC] Female, 30s-40s. Seeking an energetic, feminist comedian with a big personality. Our host and guide through this wild night out, the MC is likeable, the kind of woman that other women instinctively trust to be their friend. Every group of friends has that one girl that you go to for sex advice: this is that girl, our Sherpa of Sexuality. She’s smart, empathetic, enlightened, fun, but edgy with a finely-honed bullshit detector. She should be quick on her feet, able to work a crowd, have a distinct perspective on the needs and wants of women, and most of all… be aware of and connected to the audience each show. Magic Mike Live is all about our audience having the greatest night of their lives. Our MC needs to be able to shepherd the show while sticking to the script, but also have the awareness and quick-wittedness to riff when the moment requires it - therefore improvisation & stand-up experience is a plus, if not a necessity.
First round of auditions will be self-tape followed by in person auditions in Las Vegas and Los Angeles the week of 7/29.

Self Tape Tips: Cell phone footage is fine! Please include a slate to camera of your name, age, agency (if applicable), and home city. Pay extra attention to quality control - test your video and audio before recording, and then review your performance videos before submitting. THIS SHOULD BE SHOT FROM THE WAIST UP with a clean background and good lighting. Please shoot LANDSCAPE. Be sure that the audio is clear and there is no intrusive background noise. Although you are performing this for the camera, please keep in mind that this role is for a stage production. Your reader for the sides should be off-camera.
